Intro
The Māori peoples are the natives of New Zealand, their known by their body tattoos that goes all the way from their toes to the top of their heads. Although it’s a mystery peoples believe that the Māori’s settled in the New Zealand area at 800AD, and are assumed to be untouched for several years until 1642 which is the earliest record of Europeans arriving in New Zealand.
They live in tribes and survived on food they found in the wild, they also lived with this huge version of various birds, these birds aren’t common in these areas and are therefore believed to be brought there by the Māori peoples when they immigrated to New Zealand. These huge birds are now instinct after the arrival of the Europeans who killed their main source of food.
The Māori language, also called te reo (which is Māori for “the language”) is the language of the Māori peoples. It became an official language after a protest in the late 1980s. The language has different dialects but sounds fairly similar to each other.
